Skylark Bio is a cutting-edge biotechnology company focused on developing gene therapies to treat hearing loss. They needed a simple, clean 3-page website to introduce their mission, highlight their team, and establish credibility with potential partners and stakeholders.
While the scope was relatively small, the tone and visual presence had to strike the right balance between scientific innovation and human-centered care. The client came to us with a strong vision of what they wanted—but articulating that vision proved to be more of a journey than a blueprint.
The biggest challenge was aligning the visual design with the client's abstract concept of what the site should "feel" like. They had clear instincts about what wasn't working but struggled to define exactly what would. Most of our back-and-forth centered on the home page, particularly the hero section design, which needed to evoke innovation, clarity, and approachability without feeling generic or clinical.
We leaned into iteration, exploring several versions of the homepage layout and hero section until we landed on one that truly captured their vision. We used clean lines, plenty of white space, and common design elements to reflect the precision and clarity of their work, while adding human touches to ground the science in its real-world impact. The final result is a minimalist yet impactful site that positions Skylark Bio as both credible and forward-thinking—a strong foundation they can use and refer to in order to appeal to potential investors and researchers.
